Yardbirds® Including Junkyard Dogs & Cats

Our unique garden art sculptures are sure to catch your customer's eye. Designed by a Kentucky artist, these metal sculptures have a rich, natural patina and a distinctive appearance. We offer dogs, cats, birds, frogs, critters, mammals, feeders, pot holders, coat racks, leash/key holders, wine holders and wall decor. Placed outdoors, both the bare metal characters will naturally rust, resulting in a beautiful weathered finish.

Yardbirds® including Junkyard Dogs & Cats are made from recycled or rejected garden tools, bicycles, car parts and farm machinery parts. The copyright/trademark look of each design sign gives each piece a whimsical, inquisitive expression.

Each whimsical sculpture is handmade and imaginatively designed using various metal parts including trowels, shovel backs, post hole diggers, garden edgers, leaf rakes, bicycle forks, rebar, rocker arms, wheels, bicycle seats, etc.

Brighten your customers' faces, and your sales, by ordering YARDBIRDS® NOW!

Artist Statement
Richard Kolb

My medium is metal sculpture. I use mostly scrap and recycled parts to create my metal birds, critters, dogs, and cats. Some of the materials I use include garden tools, car parts, farm implements, bicycle parts, and mufflers. I think that Yardbirds are a great way to contribute to the good of the environment; they save rejected metal parts from ending up in a landfill and they beautify homes and yards everywhere!

For me, creating Yardbirds turns work into fun! Each Yardbird is unique, whimsical, and guaranteed to bring pleasure to its owner. A Yardbird is a great conversation piece; many people have fun identifying parts I cleverly use to make them and they marvel at the way a simple tilt of a head can give a sculpture so much personality.

All Yardbirds are proudly HANDCRAFTED IN KENTUCKY! Every six months, numerous new designs are added to the Yardbirds collection of sculptures, wine caddies, lower pot holders, and dog and cat feeders.

I believe the things that make use happiest in life when we obtain them are not always the necessities, but usually the things that we do not need make us the happiest. And that's what Yardbirds are all about -- happiness!

I am a graduate of the University of Kentucy, a lifelong resident of Kentucky, and a juried member of the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program and the American Craft Council.

Please Note: Designs may change due to availability of recycled parts or artists' discretion.
